In the traditional steps of many R & B artists, Ms. Reaves began her singing career in a gospel choir. "When I was a young girl, I started singing in the Third Baptist Church Choir in Springfield, Massachusetts. During junior high school, I sang at different functions in downtown Springfield. My chorus teacher eventually pulled me out of the choir and encouraged me to sing lead (vocals)."

In Early 1991, Ms Reaves formed a female singing group called "Ahz-Jah" with two other female singers. The trio alternated lead vocals during performances. Over the next four years, the group enjoyed regional and national success opening for such major acts as Howard Hewett, the O'Jays, Will Downing and Crystal Gayle. As a direct result of the successful opening for Crystal Gayle Ahz-Jah also performed for national political figures such as New York congressman Charles Rangel's rally and important events such as Lee Brown's Crime Commission. Additionally, Ahz-Jah sang at a number of charitable events such as the NAACP's Annual Benefit Gala and the New England, regionally televised "Make A Wish Foundation" telethon. The group also gained recognition through it's performances at widely known New York music industry 'hot spots' Sweet Waters, Chaz, Wilson's and Honeysuckle West.

In early 1995, the members of Ahz-Jah decided to pursue individual singing careers. As a solo artist, Ms. Reaves continued to perform on a regular basis with a trio of dancers at various civic functions and activities. In June 1998 Ms. Reaves performed live, opening for the Whispers. In the year 2001, Ms Reaves opened for K-C & JoJo, Case, Dave Hollister, Ludacris, Mystical, The Gablz as well as a host of community events.

Currently, Ms. Reaves is working on the completion of her latest project titled "Is There Really Love".

Although Ms. Reaves' vocal skills are usually found among R & B talent, Ms Reaves points out that both her ballads and her upbeat tempo sounds are easily transferrable to all types of music. In closing, Ms. Reaves points out, that acknowledging diversity is one of her many goals as an artist. "I don't want to exclude any group of people with my music. I enjoy performing in front of all types of audiences."
